2025 SUMMER CONFERENCE
The Institute of Photography at Falmouth University, in partnership with the Sustainable Darkroom, held a conference in July (2025) on the theme of (un)sustainable photography.
Exploring this statement ‘As we navigate the world of accelerating climate change and collapsing natural systems, we must continue to ask the question:
“How do those involved in photography think about their role and their practice?”
The event brought together those who practice photography, those who teach photography, and those who care about photography. Through presentations, discussions, and workshops, participants engaged in listening, sharing, and a range of practical activities.

I travelled to present and participate at this conference, well attended with participants from USA, UK, Australia, Canada and South Africa.
The conference brought together the leading figures in this field of research and practice. I took part in presentations and workshops.
My participation at the conference was supported by a Regional Arts Victoria Project Grant and was followed up with two arts residencies in Europe.
This project for professional development has been made possible by the Australian Governments Regional Arts Fund, which supports the arts in regional and remote Australia.
